Staff-Pick First Toast of Friendships to the Staff

May 1, 2024

Two of the most important elements of human experience. These are two fundamental requirements for human beings. These bonds are what make us human. They enable us to remain in contact, yet they also make us vulnerable. We are afraid of losing them as we'd like to start. The job of filmmakers is to communicate this emotion through a variety of aesthetics. It's not easy but when makers explore the myriad emotions that make up our human experience with a way that's as honest and meaningful and meaningful, their film could be a powerful tool for exploring the inner lives of every one of us. It's going to be the years Staff Pick premiere of Liv Karin Dahlstrom's "Women&Wine," a comedic study of pride caused through self-interest and the stress caused with the ending of a romantic relationship. The film was awarded the Grand Jury Prize at the 2017 Seattle International Film Festival (full information is available here as I was among the jurors), "Women&Wine" is an entertaining and scary film telling the tale of the struggle of a woman who wants to remain near to the person she is most passionate about.

The movie opens by introducing Turid (Marit Andreassen) and Signe (Jeanne Bee) both female. They are friends who are in their last years and have planned an extravagant celebration to commemorate the anniversary of the day they were born. They are family's favorite member Grete (Turid Gunnes). A harmless prank could turn into a rude comment which can cause Turid to worry about not becoming a household name with other friends. Confidence can be damaged by an act of trust. Laughter or even embarrassing behaviour may cause. The film offers a true and true depiction human interactions. The film explores a vast range of emotions that include hilarious frightening, sweet and also hilarious. The script was adapted by Dahlstrom who composed the script together with Thorkild Schroff. The incident occurred during a bachelorette party with friends, which led them to think about the "humor of anxiety and vulnerability which people attempt to conceal in order to protect their self-esteem in challenging social situations. The way we behave and think is determined by the thoughts that enter our minds and the effects that those thoughts have on our behaviour." In the case of Turid the girl who feels disoriented because she feels that Grete doesn't deserve their friendship, the occasion provides them with an opportunity to demonstrate their love for each other. It is then followed by an upward climb to friendship through being part of the same circle and able to show the strength of their relationship.

The themes of jealousy and friendship have been a common subject and can be the perfect starting point for a film that is specifically aimed at those with a bad relationship. Dahlstrom has a strong determination to stay away from dramatic scenes. Dahlstrom employs a technique that's natural which is focused on the lively acting of her characters and their emotions. Inspiration comes from daily happenings of the most intimate moments. Dahlstrom determined that "the camera must be able of observing the movement of actors rather than taking an alternate approach." That's why the film has the capacity to seamlessly transition between scenes. The film shows how far our willingness to protect those whom are dear to us as well as the self-esteem we have.
